My name is Phyllis Hudson in English. In Kaqchikel, it is Ixkem.I am an Akan. I come from Ghana. I was born on October 4 1965. Today, I am 35 years of age.

My mother's name is Gladys Lartey. She was born in Ghana . My father;s name is Francis Lartey. He was born in Ghana too. My mother is a nurse. My father does not work currently because he is old. I have one sister and her name is Comfort. She is a teacher in Ghana. She has two children. I also have three brothers , namely Emmanuel, Kwasi and Francis. Kwasi currently lives in the Netherlands and the others are in Ghana.

St. Mary's was the name of the school I attended when I was a child. It was a catholic school. Life was sometimes difficult but I was happy. I had a lot of friends and we used to play together. I went to the University of Ghana. I was there for four years.

I came to the US in 1986 with my husband to study. Today, I am at KU pursuing Latin American studies. I am also studying the Kaqchikel language. It is an interesting language. When I go back to Ghana, I will teach my family Kaqchikel.

I have two children. The first born is called Jacqueline and the second born Jennifer. They are currently living in Ghana with my parents.
